Accounting General Settings

The Accounting General Settings define the main characteristics of your posting such as whether it is itemized or summarized, what accounting and POS segments are being used, and more.  There are three tabs that determine your General Settings.

General Settings Tab

Choose the Posting Method that's right for you

Select a Cash Deposit Account

Select how memo should be displayed in your accounting system

Accounting Options Tab

The Accounting Options will contain posting options that are relevant to your POS. This is also the section where you can set global Locations, Classes, Departments, etc. based on your accounting system.

Deposit Checks with Cash

If your business accepts personal checks and if your bank combines checks and cash deposits into one amount on your bank statement, you will want this set to ON.  If you have $100 in cash and a $100 check there will only be one entry for $200.

If you do not accept personal checks or your bank lists them separately on your bank statement, you will want this OFF

Ignore Over/Short

If your Point of Sale supports cash drawer operations but you do not want to include any reported over or short in your accounting postings set this to ON.

The cash over and short account is used when the primary currency is cash for retail situations.  Petty Cash is also an example.  Use of an Over/Short account allows for fraud tracking, and identifying employee training needs.

Auto-Payout of Tips

mceclip5.png

If you pay credit card tips out as cash each night, turn this ON to automatically create a cash payout entry to reflect the debit. Enabling this setting will show the swiped tips as a credit, and the payout is the debit. Most users map to the same account it will result in a Net zero balance for that account, but does show the transactions.

If you are recording tip payouts directly in your Point of Sale do NOT enable this option.

Collapse Sales

Have this enabled by Shogo Customer Care if you are posting Journal entries and want to post your sales by taxable and non-taxable instead of by POS category. Click Here for more information on this topic.

Dimension Columns

If you are defining global settings for posting types other than your sales postings, enable this setting and you can set your defaults:
