Here is how we generally recommend switching from one POS to another in Shogo:
- Keep everything as-is for the location/POS that you intend to switch until after the switch is complete
- Connect your new POS by creating a new/unique location in Shogo under your existing account at app.shogo.io
- Once a few days of sales have occurred in the new POS, alert Shogo if you would like us to merge the locations together:
Once your new POS/location is active and posting, Shogo can deactivate the "old" location and merge history into the "new" location if you prefer. To have the merge completed a request needs to be submitted to the Shogo Help Desk.
Please note - if you do not wish to merge your locations, you should still deactivate your old location to avoid future billing.
Adding your new store/POS
To change your point of sale system you will first need to create a new "Store" and connect it to the new POS system:
In your Shogo account (app.shogo.io) Settings>Stores>New Store - select your new point of sale icon then follow the onscreen prompts for connection.
Once your new point of sale is set up Shogo will load recent sales history back to your specified start date, usually within an hour or so. Then you will receive an email from Shogo with instructions and you can proceed to connect your store to your company and map your accounting.
Final Shogo POS Switch Checklist
When you have connected to your new point of sale Shogo and you are happy with the new accounting postings, Shogo can merge the the two stores (old point of sale and new). This will streamline your sales data into one store for comparison purposes.
Please make sure you deactivate your accounting for the old store whenever you are ready to activate your new accounting. While you may let both locations post if you wish, deactivation in Shogo will ensure you don't create duplicate accounting postings and will also ensure you are not billed for two locations. You can deactivate your accounting by going to:
Settings>Accounting>View Details and click the Deactivate button.
Make sure you are happy with all of your historic accounting from your old location/POS. Shogo will not be able to reload or regenerate any sales data from the old store once the switch is complete.
