Billing for Multiple Locations: One Account vs. Multiple Payment Methods

The short answer

Each Shogo account is billed once per month, on one invoice, to one payment method. We can't split the stores on a single account across different credit cards, bank accounts, or payment methods.

If you need separate payment methods for different groups of stores, you can set up more than one Shogo account. Keep in mind that doing so reduces the tiered volume discount, because each account's discount is based only on the stores in that account.

How billing works on a Shogo account

  • One account, many stores. All of your stores or locations live under a single Shogo account.
  • One monthly invoice. Every active store on the account is billed together, once per month.
  • One payment method. The invoice is paid in full with the single payment method on file for the account.
  • Volume-based pricing. The more stores on the account, the lower the per-store rate under our tiered discount.

Accepted payment methods

Shogo accepts two payment methods. We recommend ACH direct debit.

  1. ACH direct debit (recommended). Your monthly invoice is drafted directly from your business bank account. It's the simplest way to pay: no card expirations, card limits, or reissued card numbers to cause a declined payment.
  2. Credit or debit card. Accepted, but cards expire or get replaced, and a declined charge means updating your details before the invoice can be paid.

We do not accept checks, wire transfers, or other payment methods. Whichever method you choose, it applies to the account's full monthly invoice.

Why we can't split payment within one account

The tiered discount is calculated on the total number of stores billed together on one account. Because the discount depends on those stores being invoiced as a group, the account is billed as a single unit, on a single invoice, with a single payment.

This means we're unable to:

  • Charge some stores to one card and other stores to another card
  • Split one monthly invoice across multiple payment methods
  • Send separate invoices for individual stores or groups of stores within the same account

If you need separate payment methods: multiple Shogo accounts

The only way to pay with more than one payment method is to set up a separate Shogo account for each group of stores. Each account then has its own monthly invoice and its own payment method.

The trade-off is pricing. Each account's tiered discount is based only on the stores in that account, so splitting your stores across accounts usually means a higher per-store rate than keeping them all together.

Example: A group with 12 stores on one account is priced at the 12-store tier. If those same 12 stores are split into two accounts of 6, each account is priced at the 6-store tier, which typically costs more per store.

Tip: Many multi-location customers keep one account for the best pricing and allocate the cost internally. Your accounting team can then recharge each location or entity its share of the monthly invoice.

Can I change the payment method on my account? Yes. You can update the payment method at any time, and the new method will be used for the full monthly invoice going forward. If you currently pay by card, we encourage switching to ACH direct debit.
